Wireless Sub Station Automation - Why?
Electric sub station automation is required for keeping a continuous check on the working and performance of the sub station. Sub station automation helps to operate the ht transformer and associated switchgears and equipments in automatic way. Sub station automation can be localized where the data monitoring and data recording is done on a local PC. But sub station automation can also be done for remote monitoring and control. In this case we install wireless GSM/GPRS RTUs at the sub station for automation. Sub station automation is must for unmanned sub stations. RTU For Wireless SubStation Automation:
Softbitonline has developed a special GSM/GPRS enabled PLC/RTU for wireless substation automation. Our model SB-Smart(4Ch) has 4 analog inputs for connecting winding temperature sensor, oil temperature sensor, body temperature sensor, 4 x digital inputs for monitoring the status of buchlotz relay to know gas explosion, temperature rise and low oil level and status of OCB/VCB. Then this model have 4 aux. relays for switching and tripping the transformer in case of emergency in auto mode or from remote control room through SCADA system. Cooling fans can also be operated automatically through these relays based on temperature rise of trnaformer becasue of over loading. All the parameters such as sensor data, electrical data, status is shown in the central control room live in real time.
Remote Substation Automation - A Challenge:
Substation automation and remote operation of an unmanned substation requires a large amount of crucial data from field devices such as reclosers, protection relays such as buchlotz, earth fault, over current etc., and disconnectors.
